ABOUT US

Coolibah Care is a not-for-profit aged care provider based in Mandurah, Western Australia. Established in 1969, Coolibah has been serving the senior community ever since.

Fully accredited by the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission, Coolibah provides residential care to 136 residents, as well as delivering quality home care services, respite services, and affordable independent living options.

Our History
In 1969, prominent members of the local community, led by Mr Owen Tuckey, met and formed a committee to consider the establishment of a retirement village for seniors living in Mandurah.

The late Mr Owen Tuckey and his wife Mrs Judith Tuckey, who continues to be our patron today,- generously donated two acres of land to build the retirement village on.

Officially Mandurah Retirement Village Inc, now known as Coolibah Care, was founded on 15th July 1969 and was incorporated as a charitable, not-for-profit organisation.

In 1969, the vision set by the founding committee was “that every retired person is entitled to peaceful, quiet and secure enjoyment of their accommodation together . This includes security of tenure and providing an environment for the elderly whereby they can maintain their independence and human dignity”.

Today, the Coolibah Board of Directors, management and the broader team are proud to hold true to this vision set by its founders, with our Purpose being “to meet the needs of the local community with a caring and quality service”.

Highlights

In 1972 the first stage of fifty retirement units was officially opened and by 1975 a thirty-two bed hostel and a social hall had been constructed.

By 2005 Coolibah had opened a nursing home and a year later introduced respite care services.

Coolibah continued to add additional services to meet the needs of the local community, including dementia care, palliative care, home care services, residential respite, day respite care and upgraded existing independent living options.

In 2020, Coolibah received a building fund grant which contributed to a twenty-bed extension, now known as Karri House. In addition to these works, Coolibah invested in a new commercial kitchen and laundry, as well as other beneficial amenities for the residents who make Coolibah their home. Karri House was officially opened in September 2021.
